Thank you for this article! Matt and I have been reading on this topic, but it helps to get the science and findings from you. We got rid of much of the plastic in our kitchen and are using glass instead. There is still so much to learn. Please keep us updated.
This is of utmost importance and thank you for bringing awareness to your audience. I predict that microplastics will be found a major contributor to the cancer explosion we are seeing in people and their pets.
Thank you for reading, Margie. I agree that there is a probability of us learning of more negative health impacts due to microplastics as time goes on.
Thank you so much for this urgently needed post on microplastics.
Have you had the pleasure of meeting https://biodegradablemulch.tennessee.edu/biodegradable-mulch-project-team/ ? And Douglas Gordon Hayes/Carl E. Sams in TN? There are great professors in TN who study the role of microplastics in agriculture and who try to reduce the use of plastic mulch - some of who have presented microplastics at 2025 the AAAS meeting (https://aaas.confex.com/aaas/2025/meetingapp.cgi/Session/34024). It may be the case that TN could be one of the first states to help pioneer the reduced usage of "plasticulture", and that local government support can help.

2nd question: How can one reduce the amount of microplastics already in our bodies?
